Lecture: Rui Pedrosa from Politecnico de Leiria
Professor Rui Pedrosa from Politecnico de Leiria will give lectures:
“Unveiling Marine Drug Discovery: Exploring Key Success Stories”
“Seaweeds potential: high value biocompounds for biotechnological and therapeutic applications”
Lectures will be held on May 15t, 2024, from 12 to 2 p.m in the auditorium C107, Faculty of Biology, University of Gdańsk. A coffee break is included.
Rui Pedrosa serves as the Coordinator Professor at the Polytechnic University of Leiria and the Principal Investigator at MARE-Polytechnic of Leiria, roles he has held since 2008 and 2014, respectively. From 2018 to 2022, he was the President of the university and concurrently served as the Vice-President of NERLEI. He founded and presided over RUN-EU between 2020 and 2022, and from 2014 to 2018, he was the Vice-President for Research and Innovation at the university. His research, which spans Marine Biotechnology, Pharmacology, and Cellular Biology, has led to international patents and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, in addition to authoring four books and ten book chapters. He actively supervises Master's and PhD students and leads various national and international projects
Host of the meeting is Professor Magdalena Gabig-Cimińska from Faculty of Biology, UG.
The initiative was created as part of cooperation between the University of Gdańsk and Politecnico de Leiria.
The lectures will be conducted in a hybrid form.
