Call for Applications: Student-Scholarship Holder Position within the SONATA19 Project

Position Title: Student-Scholarship Holder within the NCN SONATA19 Project: “ORCHIDBIOM - relation of plant-pollinator interactions and flower-associated microbiome community in melittophilous and ornithophilous orchid”

Requirements:
- Student of any year of a second-cycle (MSc) program; students planning to write their thesis within the project’s research area are preferred.
- The candidate must hold student status at the time of starting work on the project.
- The candidate must meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the Regulations on Awarding Research Scholarships in Research Projects Funded by the National Science Centre, introduced by NCN Council Resolution No. 124/2022 of 1 December 2022.
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, preferably confirmed by a certificate, allowing effective communication and preparation of scientific materials.
- Experience working with plant material.
- Familiarity with histochemical techniques and preparation of samples for scanning and transmission electron microscopy is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with creativity and innovation.
Description of tasks:
Supporting team members in lab work and during outreach/promotional events related to the project. Independently conducting simple experiments and analyses. Preparing plant material for histochemical staining and electron microscopy (SEM, TEM). Performing histochemical staining. Analyzing video materials. Attending team/lab meetings. Assisting in the preparation of scientific and popular science publications.

Conditions of Employment:
Duration of contract: 10 months
Start date: October 1st, 2025
Scholarship amount: 2,000 PLN/month
Total scholarship amount: 20,000 PLN

- Contact details for at least one referee (minimum PhD degree), who can provide a reference for the candidate.
Evaluation of candidates’ qualifications and experience will follow the principles outlined in the Regulations on Awarding Research Scholarships in NCN-Funded Research Projects (NCN Council Resolution No. 124/2022 of 1 December 2022).
Selected candidates will be invited individually for an interview. The call may be closed without selecting a candidate.
